Ford Anglia 3D test printDid some alterations to the Spanish Scalextric Ferrari 330 P3 that I got as a partworks, 4 part, kit in June 2019.
This was supplied with a RX4 can motor in place of the original RX and this caused all sorts of problems.
Then back in July this year I received a batch of motors and Scalextric bits which included a Scalextric RX .
This should have been a simple motor swop but nothing is ever simple. Having swopped the motors the rear axle felt a little stiff and the car wouldn't run. With the body of it ran slowly and it turned out that the motor shaft is slightly thicker on the RX and it was binding with the small side of the crown gear and then i found out that the tyres were rubbing slightly after all.
click here for more details 29/10/2020Built up one of the beetle chassis and as already said I have used an All Slot motor as is the guide, braids and wiring. The axles and wheels are SRC. The only problem is tyres in the below photo the front tyres are Scalextric Formula Junior and the rear are Airfix vanwall rear, which I think look better, but neither fit properly. The SRC wheels have a wide shallow inner rim but most of my tyres are designed for wheels with a very narrow inner rim.
The front axle is height adjustable and you can just see the bottom screws here..
The rear axle bearings are held in by screwed on straps..
some thing I had missed is that there are screw holes to fix the motor as well, just about visible above. Hopefully this means I can get away with a shorter can motor as long as it is can drive and has the screw holes.
The chassis runs quite well but I need to fit top screws on the front axle brackets so I can level things up. If the front tyres are any bigger I may need to lower the guide a bit.
Just sitting on the chassis at the moment.
I've finally got some small screws, bought set of assorted round head self tappers from Amazon ranging from 1.7M to 3M and a lot of very short ones that I needed here, all 1.7mm diam.
My very pink Lindberg Aston Martin arrived today
This is just the very basic snap kit with none of the unneeded parts
I put the kit together to see what the fit was like as the moulds where getting on a bit when this was produced
Phone camera doesn't like the Neon Pink of the kit and this a is the nearest to the true colour
The fits not that bad and little or no flash. The kit has two body mounting posts that I think had screws but now you get a couple of plastic pegs to push in, although one is missing. Tempted to do the same as with the Cobra so they are matched and use the cars chassis pan and glue a motor/axle unit in place.
31/10/2020Had the 3D extrusion print running through the wee hours as I found a Porsche 917 chassis on line and it fits my 917LH body almost perfectly. Not the best of print quallity as I'm having a few problems with my XYZ Junior printer.
The chassis is designed to take a Slot It motor pod which I also downloaded and printed. This is an inline pod.
Just need to give all the bits a good clean up and then another car build can start.
As this is a Porsche 917 chassis it will also fir my Airfix kit 917K so I can now also start to convert that to a slot car as always planed.
It also appears to be the correct wheelbase for the Matchbox Porsche 917/10, so another build to think about.
An added bonus id that the wheelbase is almost spot on for the Lindberg Aston Martin kit so this gives me another option when I start that build.
I've also printed this chassis for the Monogram / MRRC Porsche 904 GT body and although I already have a MRRC Sebring chassis lined up for this car if I use this chassis it will free up one of my adjustable chassis.
I also has a go at printing some guide flag but they didn't come out that well, think I just need to find the correct orientation to print them in.Last item printed was some body mounting posts.
